British Mother’s Day Tea
Features traditional British tea and contemporary treats made by local culinary experts. Includes an educational component ranging from the history of tea production to how to craft a charcuterie board to the history of Irish mysticism.
Kaffee und Kuchen (Coffee and Cake)
This pairing is a key part of every Sunday for many Germans. This program pairs the history of “Kaffee und Kuchen” with cakes prepared by local culinary experts in a quiet, relaxing setting. Contact us if your group would like to host this program.
Cooking classes
Everyone loves those classic European recipes that have been passed down through the generations. IECC will partner with a local chef to offer cooking classes to Central Iowans. Contact us if your group would like to host this program.
Maifest (German celebration of the arrival of Spring)
Held at a local craft brewery with live music and food/gift vendors.
Christkindlmarket Des Moines
A 750-year-old tradition that celebrates the sights, sounds, smells and flavors of the holidays. Includes regional vendors selling old-world, hand-crafted products; performances of polka music, traditional dance and choirs; children’s activities; Glühwein (mulled wine) and European-style beer. Always the first weekend of December.
